Xavier Joulia
Scientific Advisor
Xavier Joulia is professor of Chemical Engineering at ENSIACET (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs en Arts Chimiques Et Technologiques), Toulouse (France). He obtained in 1981 his Doctor-Engineer thesis (PhD) and in 1987 his «Doctorat ès Sciences» in Chemical Engineering from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT). He is currently in charge of the "Computer and Chemical Engineering" educational department of ENSIACET and leading the «Computer Aided Process Analysis» research team of the Laboratoire de Génie Chimique (LGC, UMR-CNRS 5503).
He is author or co-author of more than 120 papers in the field of process modelling, simulation and optimisation (CAPE) and scientific responsible of numerous industrial and European contracts. He was the Chairman of the Organising Committee and the co-chairman of the Scientific Committee of the European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE) - 2, at Toulouse, in 1992. He was the chairman of the French Working Party «Informatique et Procédés» (November 1997 - March 2001) and is French representative at the CAPE Working Party of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.
Finally he is member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Computer & Chemical Engineering Journal and of the Korean Journal of Chemical engineering. He took part in the creation of ProSim S.A. in 1989 through technology transfer activities, and remains actively involved in ProSim through scientific support.
