ProSim today announced a new version of ARIANE, power plants simulation
and optimization software to help operating and engineering companies
improve designs, increase capacities and reduce operating costs. ARIANE
automatically determines the operating parameters that enable the lowest
energy cost. Depending on the sites, the expected savings represent several
percentage points of the total energy invoice. As the software remains
low-cost, the return on investment can be only a few days.
This new version 4 introduces many new features, which makes of ARIANE
the absolute must for global cost optimization of power plants. This major
release has been designed to provide economic information as complete
as possible:
- Mean steam production
cost for each pressure network;
- Mean electricity
production cost for each concerned equipment;
- Mean compressed
air production cost;
- All produced utilities
marginal costs.
The
capital and maintenance costs of the equipment can now be taken into account
in the global cost minimization. With this new version it became possible
to fit equipment efficiency with actual plant data before to take it into
account in the optimization. Many other new capabilities allow ARIANE
to assert one's vocation: perform an optimization calculation taking into
account the whole plant operator's constraints.
Already widely used as a design and off-line operating software, these
new version makes possible ARIANE to be used also as a powerful tool for
technical and financial audits of industrial power plants. On the other
side, some projects are in progress to optimize online energy costs in
large petrochemical plants using ARIANE.

About ProSim
ProSim is an independent privately held French company successfully active
in Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) since 1989. Compared with
other CAPE software providers, ProSim focuses on providing innovative
software in some specific fields with a very high modeling quality, but
also makes the difference with the services provided. From optimal design
to operation improvement, ProSim serves its worldwide demanding clients
with state-of-the-art proven technologies. In some niche-markets such
as batch processes simulation, nitric acid plants or plate fin heat exchangers,
ProSim has gained a leading position with unequaled software solutions.
ProSim's offer addresses mainly chemical market but also serves specialty
chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, gas processing, and food or pharmaceuticals
industries. ProSim's services include technical assistance or training
in process simulation and modeling, as well as project services (modeling
services, dedicated models or custom software development, etc.). Thanks
to a long term partnership with prestigious university research centers
and continuous investment in R&D, ProSim has gained a leading position
in the field of rigorous batch chemical reactors and distillation column
simulation and has been able to develop original process simulation solutions,
to become an active player in CAPE and to successfully address process
design and engineering or operation optimization markets. The company
operates from offices in Labège (near to Toulouse) with highly qualified
and experienced technical staff enabling a deep understanding of clients'
needs and requirements in order to instantly take into account, analyze
and solve even the more complex process industries problems. ProSim's
skills include modeling, thermodynamics, numerical algorithms or optimization
techniques. ProSim also relies on a network of partners to increase its
access to the market or to perform joint developments when appropriate.
