| Simulis Thermodynamics successfully demonstrates CAPE-OPEN compliance |
Top |
Simulis Thermodynamics is a thermophysical properties calculation server available as a MS Excel® add-in, a MATLAB® toolbox or as a module pluggable in any other software that requires quality thermophysical properties. Since its release, it undergoes intensive testing in particular to comply with standards maintained by the CO-LaN (CAPE-OPEN Laboratories Network - www.colan.org).
Simulis Thermodynamics allows the user to generate "Property Packages" that can be used with CAPE-OPEN compliant applications (Thermodynamic Plug). This functionality has been successfully tested in Aspen Plus 2004 and v12.1, Aspen Hysys 2004 and v3.2 (AspenTech), PRO/II v7.1 (SimSci-Esscor), gPROMS (PSE) and XIST (HTRI). Additional testing in VALI (Belsim) and INDISS (RSI) in progress.
Simulis Thermodynamics also has the capability to use a thermodynamic model generated by a third party application (Thermodynamic Socket). Tests have demonstrated that Simulis Thermodynamics can already handle the packages from Multiflash (Infochem), PPDS (TUV-NEL) and Aspen Properties (AspenTech).
Simulis Thermodynamics is, to date, one of the few software that provides such level of integration capabilities and CAPE-OPEN compliance. It naturally becomes the reference in this field, even more as any application that integrates Simulis Thermodynamics automatically benefits from its CAPE-OPEN compliance.

| ProSimPlus sets new standard in flexibility with the new Windows Script Module
|
Top |
Aside from improvements in reliability and efficiency of different unit operations (crystallisation, distillation…), the new version of ProSimPlus notably includes a new feature, the Windows Script module. It enables the user to easily create custom calculation modules in the ProSimPlus simulation environment, using the Microsoft VB Script language, a simplified version of Microsoft Visual Basic. Once created, they can be integrated in the flowsheet and handled in the same way as any unit operation provided with ProSimPlus. Their use is fully transparent and does not require any particular manipulation.
Applications of this new feature are numerous: creation of specific unit operations, importation of external data (from MS Excel for example), setting and management of constraints on the process, etc…

| TICE-CAPE: a new tool to learn process simulation
| Top |
ProSim releases TICE-CAPE, a self-learning course to learn and master the fundamental aspects of CAPE (Computer Assisted Process Engineering) and process simulation.
Produced by Vincent Gerbaud (from the Laboratoire de Génie Chimique), TICE-CAPE is an interactive tool that enables the user to understand the results of a simulation, rigorously build a flowsheet and analyse the different parameters of a process.
The course covers the different aspects of process design, the global or sequential approaches used to solve a process simulation problem and an overview of simulation software.
The different topics are adressed through a slide-show based course, several multiple answers questionnaires, and practical exercises to be conducted with ProSimPlus. Illustrations, animations and interactive contents are some of the elements of the step by step approach that make this course particularly convenient and efficient for everyone.
TICE-CAPE is available in French and in English and can be purchased directly from ProSim’s web site for 100 € only.

| Improved licensing conditions for teaching and research | Top |
In order to better answer to specific requirements of academic staff and research people, our academic program has been enriched with new offer and additional software.
In particular, ProSim introduces the "Class" license, that can be used by up to 40 simultaneous users. This option is ideal for lecturers who wish to give access to the sofware to all their students.
Research centers have now access to an extended range of software that can be useful in research such as ProSimPlus HNO3 (simulation of nitric acid production and nitrous vapours absorption processes), ProSim DAC (dynamic simulation of adsorption columns (gas/solid)) and ProSim RBA (Rate-based non-equilibrium model for all types of multistage vapor-liquid fractionation operations).
