ProSim's continued success as a leading European provider of simulation software and services to the process industries has led to the opening of a strategic office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. "It is a natural step in the expansion of ProSim" explains Stéphane Déchelotte, CEO of ProSim. "Our solutions are widely accepted around the world, and particularly in the United States. Establishing a branch in the US will allow us to ensure a continuous presence to further introduce our solutions in this market and to provide the highest possible level of services to our customers."
ProSim's subsidiary (ProSim, Inc.) was established in Philadelphia, PA on October 10th, 2010.

Simulation of batch chemical reactors and kinetic parameters fitting

A completely new version of BatchReactor, the reference software for batch chemical reactors simulation is released.

The graphical user interface has been fully redesigned to make the software even easier to use, a validation system to let you know if you didn't miss any data, a graphical view of each steps of your process on one side and the details of your process on the other side....

Cut down on your production costs, meet the environmental and safety requirements, save time in scale-up phases and new products launch... Chemists and engineers can trust BatchReactor as a reliable and flexible tool to reach these challenges:

- New Thermodynamic models Top
New thermodynamic models have been added to Simulis Thermodynamics. As Simulis Thermodynamics is the "core" of all ProSim software, these thermodynamic modeling enhancements are immediately available in all ProSim software suite.
* New thermodynamic model available: NRTL-PR
This model is fairly accurate to represent water - hydrocarbons - glycol mixture behavior. This proves to be useful when modeling for instance gas hydrate inhibition with glycol.
The NRTL-PR model, developed by the team of Professor Neau (Aix-Marseille II University) uses a mixing rule including a predictive model to compute the non athermal term of the Gibbs free energy.

* New groups available for predictive equation of state PPR78
Five new groups were added in the PPR78 model (SH, H2O, C2H4, CH=, C=, CY-C=), extending the application area of that predictive equation of state to a much greater number of systems.

* New thermodynamic model for fluid phase equilibria for systems with polymers: UNIFAC-FV
this thermodynamic phase equilibrium model allows to represent systems that include polymers. It is an efficient predictive method to calculate accurately activity coefficients in such systems.

* New model for the calculation of liquid viscosity for petroleum cuts: API 11A4.1
The API 11A4.1 model can be used to compute liquid viscosity of petroleum cuts. It can be used to predict liquid viscosity of a pseudo-component or of a mixture of hydrocarbons.

* New model for the calculation of the surface tension of hydrocarbons mixtures: Lee - Chien

* New model for the calculation of polymer's molar volume: Tait's model
The Tait's model is an empirical correlation of the molar volume of polymers and oligomers components with temperature and pressure. This model is useful when the model parameters are available in the literature, or can be estimated through experimental data regression. Given that the model is an empirical model, it should be used only within the ranges of pressure and temperature that were used to obtain the model parameters.

You wish to strengthen your competencies in process simulation? Every year, ProSim organizes several training sessions around its major areas of expertise. Common issues are covered and illustrated with case studies and applications with different software. It is also a great opportunity to interact informally with our experts and to explore new approaches in the chemical engineering area.
It is reminded that these scheduled sessions are now included in new MUTS (Maintenance, Update, Training and Support) services agreements and can be accessed without any additional charge. Companies that choose to subscribe to MUTS Services will be able to register as many members of its personnel as desired (within available seats for each session). The same applies to universities and public research centers within the framework of software license agreement for teaching or academic research purposes.
