New unit operation modules in ProSimPlus
New modules have been added to ProSimPlus, steady-state process simulation and optimization software:

- Vapor ejector: ejectors are static devices for sucking, compressing, or blending gases, vapors, liquids and sometimes solids due to the expansion of a primary driving fluid. They can also be used for the drainage of a vessel, and in some cases, compete with mechanical vacuum pumps because of their absorption ability.
This device is fed with two fluids, a primary fluid and a secondary fluid. The secondary fluid is compressed while the enthalpy of the primary fluid decreases.
- Gas engine: a gas engine is a combustion unit of a gaseous fuel by an airstream.
The first aim of this device is to produce electricity. In addition, a hot fumes stream is created as a result of the combustion, the heat of which can be recovered by heat exchangers.

- Boiler: the boiler unit operation is a complete combustion unit of a gaseous or liquid fuel by an oxidant. The purpose of this device is to produce hot fumes to heat up a utility fluid (generally steam from liquid water).

Rating and cost estimation of two heat exchangers using Windows script
The main interest of this example is to illustrate how to use Windows Script directly within ProSimPlus to allow post simulation calculations as a function of the simulation results.
In this example, simulation and rating of two heat exchangers, using modules "Generalized heat exchanger" and "Heat exchanger" are carried out and then a Windows Script module is written and used to perform cost estimation of these heat exchangers.
Claus Process
This example corresponds to the simulation of the well-known Claus process. This process allows the recovery of elemental sulfur from acid gas containing H2S and water, and possibly hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide. The particularity of this example lies in the use of equilibrium reactors calculated by minimization of Gibbs free energy to simulate the different steps of the process.
Memobiol Project
Molecular Scale Modeling for Lignocellulosic Biorefineries
Lignocellulosic biomass is likely to play a major role as a substitution material in the chemicals sector. When designing new chemical products and manufacturing processes using lignocellulosic matter, chemistry needs to have access to tools capable of characterizing the molecules associated with the conversion of these bio-resources.
MEMOBIOL therefore aims to develop new modeling and calculation technologies capable of reconstructing the physicochemical behavior of molecules derived from lignocellulosic biomass. Unlike hydrocarbons, these molecules belong to a variety of complex oxygen compound families requiring appropriate modeling tools.
Like the refineries processing fossil resources, biorefineries also use process unit operations that succeed (or fail) because of the thermodynamics. Therefore, new green and innovative processes  to develop optimal biomass require an understanding of the thermodynamic behavior of concerned species. The thermodynamic effect of charges associated with the biomass is particularly complex because of the diversity of oxygen-containing molecules, where intra- and inter-molecular interactions make these systems highly non-ideal (in the thermodynamic sense), for example, due to the hydrogen bonding involved. The models used for hydrocarbons (commonly available in most process simulators today) fail to predict these deviations from ideality. The cutting-edge technologies resulting from the research conducted by the partners in the MEMOBIOL project will represent invaluable tools to help industry make decisions with respect to their green engineering approach.

This R & D project, supported by the ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) within the framework of its program CP2D (Chemistry and Processes for Sustainable Development) should be completed by March 2013.
New versions of software issued from the project (including Simulis Thermodynamics) will allow ProSim software users to take full advantage of the industrial MEMOBIOL results.

ProSim is now established in India & China

ProSim already has a large international clientele, including many companies in India and China. Convinced that there is no true business development of a market without any local presence, ProSim has now established themselves locally in India and China.
Since last April, Matthieu Boudet is present in India in Bangalore while Domenico de Bartolomeis is in Shanghai to represent ProSim in China.
In addition to the commercial development of these markets, the aim is to provide a local response in terms of services, as well as to establish strategic partnerships with local players.

In October, ProSim is organizing a half-day seminar to present its simulation software in parallel with the India Chem 2012 exhibition to be held in Mumbai.
In December, ProSim will host a seminar on the simulation of industrial processes in China. Location and dates to be published soon.
ProSim joined two competitive clusters: Axelera & Avenia
The ambition of AXELERA is to build a global industrial and scientific network that combines Chemistry and the Environment ( AXELERA was established back in 2005 by 3 groups (Arkema , Rhodia member of Solvay Group and GDF-Suez), a world-class public sector research and training center (IFP Energies Nouvelles) and a government-funded research organization (CNRS). ProSim will take an active role in this cluster, as many of its themes are important to ProSim and our customers.
ProSim also joined the competitive cluster, Avenia ( that is active in the field of energy, which is also a strategic activity for ProSim. Preparing for the energy transition is the ambition of Avenia, which became a "competitiveness cluster" in the field of environmental technologies in May 2010. It brings together companies, research centers and training organizations, both public and private, in the fields of geosciences, energy and materials.
New Support website
After the release of the new ProSim website, the company launched its new Support website. The organization of the Support website is by product, where for each product, you can find examples of application, help documents...

It has to be noted that most of these new clients were using other software before switching to ProSim.
