What kind of process can I simulate with ProSimPlus?
ProSimPlus is a steady state simulator, that will represent continuous processes.
It is provided with extensive libraries of unit operations, component properties databases and thermodynamic models and therefore can be used in many different industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, oil, gas treatment, refining, specialty chemical.
It is also possible to add user defined unit operations and thermodynamic models to deal with specific applications and extend the application field.
ProSimPlus can model complex systems (large flowsheet, with numerous recycling or hignly non ideal mixtures.
Is it easy to learn and use?
Yes. If you are familiar with computer simulation, you will find ProSimPlus intuitive and convenient. It uses the standards Windows interfaces features (color management, windows, right click menu, double click, copy-paste of single or group of units …) to build the flowsheet and many different features to access simulation results quickly (through graphs, in unit operation windows, in HTML based simulation reports...).
Generally users will understand the main features of the software in a few days. A number of help files (step by step description of fundamental manipulations) and several application examples are available to enable efficiently. Also you can make use of our Support Service who remains at your disposal to help you.
Training courses can be delivered for beginners who wish to master the software philosophy and methodology or for users who have specific issues to handle and would like to get better insight of the software.
When a problem occurs during calculation, how can I see where the problem comes from?
During calculation, different colors show you if the unit operation that is under calculation has converged or not. At the end of calculation, if the simulation has not converged, the signs remain on the module(s) that failed. A red cross means that the convergence has failed completely, an orange signs means that it has converged but a warning is attached to it.
You are invited to immediately open the module configuration window and in the Result tab, you will find the explanation. This explanation is also found in the Simulation Report, generated at the end of each simulation.
Can I test the software before acquiring it?
Yes, it is possible. Evaluation version are fully functionnal and limited to 10 days utilisation (from the installation date). No downloadable version of ProSimPlus is available on the ProSim public web site and you need to get in touch with the Sales Department (sales@prosim.net) who will organize it for you.
If you are customer with a valid maintenance (MUTS services) agreement on another ProSim software, you can download ProSimPlus from the secured ProSim Support web site and test it for 10 days.
How much does the software cost?
It depends! Academic fees are available in the "Academic" section of the web site. Price for industrial utilization will not be found on the web site.
Prices will vary depending on the type of acquisition you request (permanent or lease), on the type of license (client/server (LAN or WAN), or standalone/local), the number of licenses, the number of module (partial versions) etc...
Each quotation is unique and respond to a specific requirement and context. Get in touch with the Sales Department (sales@prosim.net) who will define with you the most appropriate configuration.

| - BatchColumn |
 [ Product page ] |
Can I simulate several batch distillation columns with BatchColumn?
No. BatchColumn simulates one distillation column. If two columns are connected, you can simulate one then consider the composition of connected stream and enter it as a feed or initial load in your other distillation column.
Is there a limitation in the number of components, theoretical stages, feeds or side streams?
No, you can simulate, for example, a mixture of 25 substances in a distillation column of 100 theoretical stages.
The only limitation is the RAM of your computer.
Does BatchColumn calculate flooding phenomena?
Yes. After you have selected your packing in the BatchColumn library, you indicate the column diameter and packing height.
Then BatchColumn calculates hold-ups, pressure drops and flooding factor.
Can I ask the software to calculate itself the reflux ratio to optimize my distillation?
Yes. In this case you specify a purity to be maintained in the distillate and BatchColumn calculates the reflux policy to reach this specification.
Can I test the software before acquiring it?
Yes, it is possible. Evaluation version are fully functionnal and limited to 10 days utilisation (from the installation date). | - BatchReactor |
[ Product page ] |
Can I introduce my own substances?
A specific software called Component Plus is delivered with all the ProSim packages. It allows to create private databases and to manage them
(shared or private database on a network for example).
Does BatchReactor take into account all type of reactions?
BatchReactor includes several pre-coded kinetic models for liquid, liquid-vapor and liquid-solid reactions. Biochemical reactions are also taken into account. It is also possible to define a user defined kinetic model. The connection between the user model and he software is done through a Dynamic Link Library.
How is defined a chemical reaction?
By a reactional scheme (stoechiometric coefficients), a kinetic model and its parameters. If you have no ideas of the kinetic parameters values,
BatchReactor calculates these parameters from experimental data (concentration or calorimetric data).
What is the level of details in the reactor description?
It exists several level of detail as function of the needed accuracy and the time available. In the most detailed configuration, you can describe
the vessel shape, the type of agitator you are using, the heating/cooling system (partial pipes, jacket, external heat exchangers...) and the service fluid...
Can I test the software before acquiring it?
Yes, it is possible. Evaluation version are fully functionnal and limited to 10 days utilization (from the installation date). | - Ariane |
[ Product page ] |
Is it a software for power plant design or exploitation?
Both. It is the daily tool to modify operating conditions as function of the energy needs. Ariane indicates what are the conditions that correspond to the lowest cost.
Is there a limitation on the number of networks we can simulate?
No. You can also connect equipment without any limitations regarding the equipment number.
Can I simulate a cogeneration unit?
Yes. The cogeneration contract can be total (you sell all the produced electricity) or partial.
In this case, Ariane allows to measure the economical impact of the cogeneration.
Which optimizer is used ?
We are using an SQP method. The strong point of Ariane is the efficient adaptation we have done, to be able to optimize complex networks in the
shortest time.
Can I test the software before acquiring it?
Yes, it is possible. It is however not recommended given the specificities of the application field of the software. We will make sure however that you get a complete understanding of the package, with demonstration meetings, web conferences etc.
Please get in touch with the Sales Department (sales@prosim.net) who will define with you the best way to understand the software features and their applications in your specific activity.
