PROSIMPLUS STANDARD 3.7.7

  • A new window was developed for the unit’s system edition and the definition of the normal and standard conditions.
  • This new units’ editor allows:1.To edit units’ system for “Edition” (that is to say for the definition of the data or the operating parameters) and for the “Report” (that is to say for the calculated results that can be accessible in the simulation report, in the hints, the summary grid, the tags, etc.). User can choose its unit for each selected quantity, use a predefined system, or define its own system to be used by default.

    2.To copy the whole selected units’ system to all others in one click.

    3.To edit normal and standard conditions, such as the atmospheric pressure, to be able to change their default values if necessary.

  • A new category “Membranes” has been added to the unit operations library for the modules membranes filters and catalytic membrane reactors.
    These unit operations were in the category “separators” and “reactors” respectively in the previous versions.
  • It is now possible to take into account (or not) the pressure drops (including gravity pressure) for the modules “heat exchanger (rating)” and “double pipe exchanger”.
  • After running a sensitivity analysis, it is now possible to export the results table in different formats.
  • A new property is now available in VBScript: LastCalcStatus that allows to know the last simulation status, for a module but also for the global simulation project.

  • The “HNO3” model is now used by default in the “HNO3 Specific” thermodynamic profile for calculating the liquid thermal conductivity of aqueous nitric acid solutions.
  • When the “User” model is chosen for the “Calculation of the absorption constant of N2O4 in water” the specified parameters are included in the “Report”.
  • It is now possible to take into account (or not) the pressure drops  (including gravity pressure drop) for the module “heat exchanger (rating)”. If the calculation of pressure drops option is not selected, only heat transfer is calculated.
  • After running a sensitivity analysis, it is now possible to export the results table in different formats.

BATCHCOLUMN 2.0.3

  • A new window was developed for the unit’s system edition and the definition of the normal and standard conditions.

  • Scenario window: the graphic charter of the steps of the scenario has been partially revamped. Now the type of step is clearly indicated in the edition window of each step. Additionally, when a step edition tab is active, the corresponding step is also selected in the scenario window.
  • Scenario window: event icons have been revamped for more visibility. Now, there is a specific icon for the “Time spent since the beginning of the step” event to better distinguish the two types of time events on the “Scenario” window. Graphics management of these icons has been improved. They can no longer be deleted and they follow the graphic object of the event during alignment operations.
  • Calculation monitoring window: the button which generates the CSV file containing the results to be exported now opens a window allowing to configure the results wanted in this file. It is also possible to choose the method of selection of the points to be exported.
  • In the BatchColumn report accessible from the calculation monitoring window, a drop-down menu now allows you to directly select the curve to display (instead of scrolling through them one by one). A button has been added to directly access the graphics parameters configuration window for the selected curve.
  • It is now possible to define in the BatchColumn preferences: the number of integration points between 2 tracing points (allows you to have more or less smooth curves) and the maximum number of points beyond which the symbols are no longer automatically traced. Thus, any new simulation will initially use the values selected in this window.

SIMULIS THERMODYNAMICS 2.0.44

  • A new standard database is now available (the Standard 2023); it contains 2379  compounds.
  • A new thermodynamic model for mixtures containing spin isomers of Hydrogen has been added. Hydrogen can appear in the form of three different spin isomers :  the para-hydrogen, the ortho-hydrogen and the normal hydrogen which is a mixture of 75% molar of ortho-hydrogen and 25% molar of para-hydrogen.
  • In this database, the pure component properties of these three compounds have been included. This applies in particular to intrinsic properties and temperature-dependent properties such as the perfect gas heat capacities at constant pressure, viscosities and thermal conductivities.
  • The Hydrogen (isomers) thermodynamic model has been added. It consists of a Redlich-Kwong equation of state with the Generalized Twu Nancy alpha function, a standard mixing rule and volume translated equation of state for liquid molar volume calculation. A hydrogen (isomers) profile was added to calculate transport properties (viscosities and thermal conductivities). The Muzny and Assael formulations were used, and the parameters of these correlations were optimized on experimental data for each of the spin isomers of hydrogen.
  • The Soreide-Whitson modified Chabab mixing rule has been added.
  • The parameters of water in non-aqueous phases containing CO2, oxygen, methane, nitrogen or hydrogen have also been modified.
  • New eNRTL parameters were added to represent hydrogen mixtures in water/sodium chloride brine.
  • If “multisolvents Henry’s law” thermodynamic profile is selected, after the Henry’s constant have been defined (from the database or given by the user), a new tool allows to plot the Henry’s law for selected pairs solvent / solute as a function of temperature.

  • Absolute and relative tolerances were differentiated between the adsorption and the regeneration steps in order to introduce more flexibility for simulations with numerical difficulties. For the same reason, it is now possible to specify tolerances (absolute and relative) specific to the production equations.

 

PROSEC 3.7.7

  • Streams : the enthalpic factor, similar to a mass flow rate, is used to artificially increase the enthalpy values of the enthalpy curve. It is usually used to take in to account the heat of reaction (reactive stream). A value of “0” indicates that no enthalpic factor is taken into account. This factor can only be defined if the option Continuous thermodynamic is deactivated.
  • If a fluid is in supercritical state, it may be interesting to choose the “Supercritical fluid” option in its specification sheet in the “Streams” tab. Thus, the bubble and dew points are not calculated. If this option is active, it is possible to impose the physical state of the calculations (liquid or vapor). By default (automatic), the transition between the dense state and the sparse state takes place at the critical temperature. This option is not available for continuous thermodynamic streams.
  • Information ports: it is now possible to import the enthalpy factor for a given inlet stream. This makes possible, in particular, to link the inlet flow rate and the enthalpy factor via a script so as not to have to modify it manually each time the inlet flow changes.
  • Information ports: it is now possible to export the outlet temperature and/or the outlet mass vapor ratio of any stream or sidestream (for export in Excel, for display via a Tag). This is particularly interesting in the case where the enthalpy curves have been provided by the user. Indeed, the tabulated data provided may be inconsistent with the thermodynamics of the simulation environment.
  • Information ports: it is now also possible to export 4 numerical parameters: the number of iterations at the end of the calculations, the last value of the convergence criterion, the last value of the damping factor and the solver output mode. These new exports allow to monitor the convergence of CO-ProSec when it is in a convergence and/or an optimization loop.
