ProSim HEX 3.6.8 – NOUVEAU LOGICIEL
Heat exchangers simulation
ProSim HEX is the new software from ProSim dedicated to the simulation of heat exchangers. The new software contains a module for the detailed simulation of plate-and-frame heat exchangers (gasketed plate-type heat exchangers), with or without chemical reactions (CO-ProSim PHE), as well as several modules for a simpler simulation of other heat exchangers regardless of exchange technology. ProSim HEX also provides modules to simulate the auxiliary equipment nearby the heat exchangers (pumps, compressors, turbines, flashes, valves…). Learn more.
New dynamic view of the simulation: possibility to follow various results during the simulation (flow, composition, temperature, volume…). The user can also navigate inside the simulation and rewind at specific times using navigation buttons. One thus obtains a clearer view of the simulation over time.
New report in Word format (docx): the user can generate a detailed and organized report in Microsoft Word format including tables, graphs and images.

New “Cubic + Association” model associated to Redlich-Kwong and Peng-Robinson equations of state: these models are based on the combination of a cubic equation of state (Peng-Robinson, Redlich-Kwong…), which describes the “physical” interactions between molecules, with an associative term based on the Wertheim theory to take into account the effects of polarity and association (i.e. interactions related to hydrogen bonds). The development of this family of equations of state began in the mid-1990s [KON96]. These models have been used successfully for a large number of complex systems integrating hydrocarbons, oxygen molecules (alcohols, glycols …), associative molecules (carboxylic acids…) and water.
New matrix editor of binaries: the user has a more convenient view of the binary interaction parameters thanks to a matrix format.
Binary estimation: the user can now estimate the binary interaction parameters of excess free enthalpy models or activity coefficients for components where sufficient information is known. The problems related to the lack of information for the predictive models used are thus bypassed for certain constituents (decomposition into missing functional groups, missing COSMO file…).
New properties and flashes in the calculation service:
– pH derivatives;
– Derivatives of the Joule-Thomson coefficient;
– Derivatives of kinematic viscosity;
– Osmotic coefficient and its derivatives;
– Flashes: ωH, ωS, ωU, ωV.
New development of a Henry’s law library for multi-solvents.
New available profiles in the “Heat exchanger” and “Double pipes” unit operations: ρv² profile along the exchanger, the falling film thickness profile, the minimum liquid flow for the falling film exchangers. The user can now decide whether or not to take into account the pressure drop (useful especially for modeling thermosiphons).
“Pinch analysis” unit: when the calculation of the integration potentials is performed, the integration heat exchangers identified on the process are now also printed in the report, allowing a better understanding of the results thanks to the display of the heat exchangers network.
Case study analysis: new possibility to select the items related to the sizing of the unit operations: “Heat exchanger”, “Double pipes”, “2-phase distillation columns”, “3-phase distillation columns”, “Column sizing”, “2-phase flashes”, “General 3-phase flash” and “Decanter”.
New graphic properties: new editor of unit operations visuals which allows the users to modify the image of the unit operations and the position of the connection ports; new graphic element “label” to display the value of a parameter directly on the process diagram; new formatting tool to reproduce the style of a graphic element.

“Plate oxido-absorption column” unit operation: complete rewrite of the plate editor using a grid.
