Stéphane Déchelotte, CEO of ProSim, elected Vice president of SFGP’s IEP Group

Stéphane Déchelotte was elected Vice President of the IEP (IT and Process) group of SFGP (French Process Engineering Society) during the group members meeting that took place on January 12, 2010, at Nancy’s ENSIC University.

Stéphane Déchelotte is CEO of ProSim and has over twenty years experience in the CAPE (Computer Aided Process Engineering) domain. He regularly takes part in the group activity, bringing his deep knowledge of this field and of the related industrial network. The chair of the Group is held since January 1st 2010 by Xuan Mi Meyer, Professor at the ENSIACET University and researcher at the Laboratoire de Génie Chimique of Toulouse (France). The chair is held alternatively by an industrial and an academic member.

The IEP Group is open to anyone who has interest in IT applications in process industries. It is not restricted to academics researchers of this domain or to experts from large industrial companies. Topics are covered in an understandable way and often bring practical answers to issues encountered by SMEs or process engineering companies. If you feel concerned by topics like process modeling, simulation, optimization or operation, feel free to join the group or to attend one of the forecoming meetings to know more.
Next Spring (most probably on May 5th 2010), for example, the group organizes with the BioAlim group a forum focusing on “modelling and simulation in biotechnologies and food processes”.

About the IEP Group and SFGP
Founded in 1989, this group of the French Process Engineering Society ( has set itself for objective the scientific animation of IT applied to process engineering domain in France. Its goal is to promote the utilization of IT in the design, analysis and operation of processes and in particular to:
    • Foster exchanges of experiences and methods
    • Encourage the flow of information between industrials and academics
    • Forster the dialog with public authorities
    • Reinforce France presence in Europe and internationally.

The chair of the group is held alternatively by an industrial and an academic member. Organization and networking task are widely shared between group members.
Regular group meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of odd month. They are organized in the premises of one of the institutions or companies represented regularly in the group. Furthermore, once every year, the group organizes thematic days on topics considered sufficiently developed and motivating. It ensures a good balance between presentations from industrials – close to needs – and from academics – more prospectives.

Privileged fields of intervention are process modeling, simulation and control. To be member of the group one must be member of SFGP, or must belong to a company member of this organization. Meeting attendees’ profiles are equally shared between industrialists and academics.
